Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has commissioned the newly completed Faskari General Hospital, upgraded from a Comprehensive Health Centre to expand access to quality healthcare services in Faskari and neighbouring communities.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Radda said the project, which commenced about three years ago, experienced delays due to security challenges but had now been completed and equipped with the necessary medical facilities

“We started this project about three years ago. Due to some security challenges, its completion was delayed. But today, the hospital is completed and equipped with all the necessary facilities,” he said.

The Governor disclosed that the government had also conducted a recruitment exercise to ensure adequate staffing of the hospital.

He noted that his administration’s statewide engagements provided opportunities not only for political activities but also for commissioning completed projects for the benefit of the people.

“We are happy today that we are not just going around for campaigns, but we are also going around to commission projects for the benefit of the people of Katsina State,” he observed.

Governor Radda described the hospital as a project he had closely monitored, recalling his regular follow-ups with the Commissioner for Health to ensure its completion.

“This hospital has been in my mind for a very long time. I have been asking the Commissioner almost on a daily basis about its situation. Today, he has presented the hospital to us, and we are commissioning it,” he explained.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, said the upgrade of the Comprehensive Health Centre to a General Hospital followed recommendations and consultations based on the healthcare needs of Faskari residents.

He explained that the government provided a new administrative block, staff quarters, medical equipment, working tools and essential hospital facilities, including the theatre, alongside the recruitment of skilled personnel.

Hon. Funtua described the commissioning as the fulfilment of Governor Radda’s commitment to the people, commending his administration for prioritising healthcare and directing public resources towards essential community needs.

He assured that the Ministry of Health would continue implementing the Governor’s directives to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.

The event was graced by the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari; Ex- minister Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa; Dr. Mustapha Inuwa; and APC State Chairman, Hon. Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa.
