Kebbi Governor Idris commissions LEAD FM, urges patriotic investment, responsible media

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, on monday commissioned LEAD 91.1 FM Radio Station in Birnin Kebbi, describing the establishment of the station as a demonstration of patriotism and commitment to the socio-economic development of Kebbi State.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Idris commended the proprietor, Alhaji Shuaibu Yusuf Mungadi, for heeding the consistent call to indigenous entrepreneurs to return home and invest. He noted that such investments are critical to job creation, unity, and the overall progress of the state.
The Governor expressed appreciation to Optimal Image Media Services for expanding its media footprint to Kebbi, in addition to its existing operations in Gusau, Katsina, and Abuja3rd Eye Africa Television.
While congratulating the board and management of the station, Governor Idris cautioned them to resist attempts by desperate and ambitious politicians who may seek to use the media platform for campaigns of calumny and selfish political interests.
He stressed that the media must remain a tool for peace, truth, and development.
Delivering a keynote lecture on “The Role of the Media on National Security,” Professor Bello Bada of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, said the media plays a decisive role in either strengthening or weakening democracy. He emphasized impartiality, neutrality, and adherence to journalistic ethics as essential to responsible journalism and national unity.
Professor Bada further stated that leaders who demonstrate purposeful leadership and selfless service, such as Governor Nasir Idris, deserve to be encouraged for the sustainability of results-oriented governance.


In goodwill messages, the Emir of Argungu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, urged the people to acknowledge and support the continuity of the present administration in view of the remarkable development being recorded across the state.
Senator Muhammadu Adamu Aliero, representing Kebbi Central, described the establishment of the radio station as timely and important for the social and political development of Kebbi. He urged the proprietor to leverage the Governor’s uncommon humility and compassion, which continue to endear him to the people.
Also speaking, former Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Alhaji Ladan Salisu, praised Alhaji Mungadi for his patriotism, noting that the decision to invest in Kebbi instead of Abuja, Kaduna, or Lagos reflects a genuine commitment to unity and development.
He congratulated Governor Idris for his administration’s achievements and consistent support for individuals, groups, and organizations.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Optimal Image media services, Alhaji Shuaibu Mungadi, expressed gratitude to the Governor and all dignitaries present He assured that LEAD 91.1 FM will be dedicated to promoting peaceful coexistence, unity of purpose, and socio-economic development and will never be used to promote disharmony, hatred, or selfish political interests.
The event was attended by prominent politicians, captains of industry, major stakeholders in the media industry, traditional rulers, and other well-wishers.
