By Ahmad Ali Usman, Kafanchan
The Member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Amos, has inaugurated the distribution of 2,000 bags of assorted fertilisers, 900 solar-powered lights and 40 motorcycles for security agencies, alongside the donation of a newly constructed boys’ hostel to the Kaduna State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kafanchan Campus.
The interventions, launched at separate ceremonies in Kafanchan, are aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, improving security, expanding access to renewable energy and enhancing educational infrastructure across Jema’a and Sanga Local Government Areas.
Speaking through the Kaduna State House of Assembly Caucus Leader, Hon. Ali Kalat, the lawmaker said the projects reflected his commitment to responsive representation and people-centred development.
He said effective governance should be measured by the positive impact it has on the lives of the people.
According to him, the distribution of fertilisers would cushion the effect of rising farm input costs on farmers and enhance food production across the constituency.
He added that the installation of 900 solar-powered lights in churches, mosques and strategic public places would improve security, promote economic and social activities at night and support sustainable development through renewable energy.
Daniel Amos further said the donation of 40 motorcycles to security agencies would strengthen surveillance and improve rapid response to security challenges, particularly in rural communities.
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertilisers, safeguard the solar installations against vandalism and continue supporting security agencies in maintaining peace.
Chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Jema’a chapter, Yahaya Makadi, described the fertiliser support as timely, noting that many farmers had been struggling with the high cost of farm inputs.
A farmer from Sanga Local Government Area, Yohanna Duniya, said the planned installation of solar-powered lights would improve security and make evening activities safer, while a representative of one of the benefiting security agencies said the motorcycles would enhance mobility and improve response to distress calls.
In a related development, the lawmaker handed over a newly completed boys’ hostel to the Kaduna State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kafanchan Campus, to address accommodation challenges facing students.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Ruth Christopher described the hostel as a major intervention that would provide a more conducive environment for learning.
She appealed to the lawmaker to extend his free computer training programme to students of the institution, facilitate the construction of the access road leading to the hostel and provide additional classroom furniture.
Representing the Provost, the Deputy Provost of the institution, Ephraim Dyages, described the hostel as a landmark contribution that would significantly improve students’ welfare and academic performance.
He assured the lawmaker that the management would ensure proper maintenance of the facility for the benefit of present and future students.
The events were attended by traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, security agencies, community representatives, women and youth groups from across Jema’a and Sanga Federal Constituency.
